Brian Samaniego

Salsa Student

Brian discovered his passion for salsa after his very first class at Movers and Shakers Dance Academy. Drawn in by the welcoming atmosphere and expert instruction, he quickly became eager to learn more. Practicing with recap videos and dancing socially with classmates have been his go-to strategies for mastering steps. One of his most memorable experiences was his first social dance, where a kind and patient partner helped ease his nerves.

Brian dreams of traveling to Spain to experience the origins and styles of salsa firsthand. Beyond improving his dance skills, Movers and Shakers has given him a close-knit community of friends who share not just the dance floor but life’s special moments.

Brian shares his dance journey through the following interview questions.

1. What were your initial expectations of salsa classes, and how have they changed since you started?

After my first MaS class I fell in love with salsa. The welcoming atmosphere that all the MaS instructors provide was amazing and made me want to learn more.

2. What strategies do you use to remember the steps and techniques taught in class?

Practicing by watching the recap videos and going social dancing with my classmates.

3. Have you ever had a memorable dance with a stranger at a salsa event? What made it special?

My first time going social dancing. I was insanely nervous and the person I danced with was very nice and understanding I was new to salsa.

4. If you could attend a salsa dance event anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?

Spain, because I want to see the different styles and where it came from.

5. How do you feel the salsa lessons at Movers and Shakers have helped you grow as a dancer and as a person.

The instruction is top notch and even though this is my first time taking actual lessons I feel the professionalism would be unmatched if I went somewhere else to learn. I’ve met so many amazing people that have become close friends that not only dance together but do other life events together as well.
